Celebrating the Beauty Around Us

When? Wednesday 19th August 11am-1pm

Heritage Week – a time to look around us and enjoy our local places and special walks. Join us to see how artists responded to each area and how poetry describes this sense of place.

This unique event at Kilmore Parish Hall showcases eleven artworks, each reflecting a personal connection to the places, history and natural beauty that make our region so special.
Whether you have a passion for local history, creativity, nature or community, this event offers a wonderful opportunity to discover the beauty that surrounds us every day and the connections that bring us together.

This exhibition celebrates local communities and the special walking routes that connect people with their heritage, landscape and nature. From Jampa Ling, Templeport and Garvagh Lough in West Cavan to Skeagh and Fleming’s Folly in the east of the county, the Cavan Heritage Office invited artists to respond creatively to these remarkable places.

The featured artworks have been created by Jackie O’Neill, Imelda Bradley and Heather Brett, whose work captures the beauty, history and character of each location. Heather Brett has also written a poem inspired by every Golden Way, adding another layer of storytelling and connection to place. Ecologist Heather Bothwell provided ecological expertise and guidance throughout the project.

Everyone is warmly welcome to view the exhibition, meet the Golden Ways groups and learn more about these treasured local landscapes. Tea and light refreshments will be served, and Anne-Marie Ward, Cavan’s Heritage Officer, will host the event.
