At Belturbet Heritage Railway Station, visitors can step back in time to experience the rich history of Ireland’s railways. The museum showcases a fascinating collection of vintage trains, artifacts, and exhibits that highlight the importance of rail travel in shaping the region’s development. The station was once home to lines on both the Great Northern Railway and the Midland Great Western Railway.
Visitors can explore the station finding restored carriages and engines to learn about the stories of the railway workers and the communities that were once connected by the tracks.
The museum offers a hands-on experience with interactive displays and scenic views of the surrounding countryside, making it a unique destination for history and railway enthusiasts alike.
Self-guided and guided tours available. Group tours can be arranged outside regular opening days.
Cultural events (music, poetry, storytelling, seasonal events), Heritage Week and Culture Night are also held at Belturbet Heritage Railway Station.
