Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trial – Reopening

Published: 4 April 2025

Please be advised that the Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trail has reopened to the public.
This period of warm sunny Spring weather is an excellent opportunity to explore the unique landscapes of the Geopark and we are delighted to update that all Geopark sites  are presently open with the exception of:
  • Belmore Forest
  • Lough Navar Forest & Scenic Drive
  • Killykeen Forest
  • Ballyconnell Canal Loop
We  encourage you to explore and discover as many of our unique Geopark sites as possible and particularly at this time, to please enjoy them responsibly and be wildfire aware.
We can all help to Keep wildfires at bay:
🔥 Avoid open fires outdoors—no fire, no risk.
🚭 Properly dispose of cigarettes—small sparks can start big fires.
🍔 When barbecuing, be aware of your surroundings, and never leave it unattended. Always extinguish fully before disposing of the coals.
🛑 Don’t litter! Glass bottles can start fires when sunlight hits them.
🚒 Spot a fire? Report it immediately to Fire and Rescue Service by calling 999.
💡 Stay safe—never tackle a fire alone.
We would like to extend our thanks to our colleagues in Fire and Rescue Service and the Mountain Rescue Teams for their on-going support and commitment.  We also thank our teams, and partners, for their ongoing commitment to the clear up to make safe our outdoor sites.
