This period of warm sunny Spring weather is an excellent opportunity to explore the unique landscapes of the Geopark and we are delighted to update that Killykeen Forest and Ballyconnell Canal Loop (Linear Trail only) are now open.
Belmore Forest and Lough Navar Forest & Scenic Drive remain closed as we continue to work with our partners to make safe these Geopark sites.
As this spell of warm, dry, sunny weather continues we encourage you to explore the unique Geopark sites and to please enjoy them responsibly and be wildfire aware.
We can all help to Keep wildfires at bay:
🔥 Avoid open fires outdoors—no fire, no risk.
🚭 Properly dispose of cigarettes—small sparks can start big fires.
🍔 When barbecuing, be aware of your surroundings, and never leave it unattended. Always extinguish fully before disposing of the coals.
🛑 Don’t litter! Glass bottles can start fires when sunlight hits them.
🚒 Spot a fire? Report it immediately to Fire and Rescue Service by calling 999.
🚗 Parking responsibility to not block access for Emergency Services
💡 Stay safe—never tackle a fire alone.
We extend our thanks to our colleagues in NI Fire and Rescue Service, Mountain Rescue Teams and Civil Defence for their on-going support and commitment. We also thank our teams, and partners, for their ongoing commitment to the clear up to make safe our outdoor sites.
