Cuilcagh Lakelands UNESCO Global Geopark is delighted to announce the new events and education programme for 2024. The Geopark aim to host a range of events which encourage people with various interests and abilities to engage with their Geopark – its unique landscapes, geology, and stories and to attract visitors to this wonderful UNESCO region. The Geopark will also offer a number of curriculum linked education programmes for primary and national school pupils.
The Geopark covers an extensive area, across West Fermanagh and West Cavan containing over 60 sites of natural, historical, or cultural interest. Our Geopark Guides are crucial to the delivery of the Events Programme and with their on-going support and assistance we are able to deliver a truly diverse and engaging programme.
Some highlights of the 2024 programme include:
Armagh Observatory and Planetarium bring their mobile star dome back to Fermanagh on Saturday 17 February, at Kinawley Community Centre.
Join Geopark and Planetarium staff for a 2-hour session dedicated to the wonders of space. Enjoy a planetarium show in the mobile star dome before seeing real meteorites, conducting a meteorite experiment and finishing your day with some space themed arts and crafts Sessions begin at 10:00am,11:00am, 2:00pm,3:00pm,4:00pm, please book early to avoid disappointment at the Geopark Website.
Celebrate World Heritage Day with the Geopark at one of Ireland’s most fascinating Neolithic sites – Cavan Burren Park. Situated just 16 miles from Enniskillen, Cavan Burren Park is home to some incredible Megalithic tombs, stunning scenery and fantastic myths and legends. Join local and national experts to take a tour of the tombs, learn about the neolithic rock art and hear the stories of giants that roamed the area for generations!
